| Frame and Sash-- Wood components are precision-milled from kiln dried poplar. Poplar,a hardwood, is tougher and does not easily dent or scratch compared to pine. It has alower moisture content, practically eliminating warpage. Less expansion and contraction results in tighter joints compared to pine. Poplar is less absorbent making it easier to paint or stain. It is easier to mill resulting in fewer factory defects or splintering. Screws do not easily strip out at locks for better security. Poplar’s toughness enables it to resist the many months of abuse a window must endure in the new construction process.
All exterior frame and sash parts are chambered vinyl in either white, beige and clay with an integral nail fin. All frame and sash corners are fusion welded. The result is a water tight, air tight joint that is superior in strength to corners connected with nails or screws. Sash lock and keeper rails feature an interlock for both thermal performance and security. Both sashes tilt in for easy cleaning and removal. The lift rail is raised to the center of the window for easy accessibility and fingertip operation. Interior frame and sash components are clear poplar, ready for paint or stain finishing.
Weatherstripping-- Integral weatherstripping pockets have been designed throughout the window system. Sashes feature a wool pile fin seal at the center interlock as well as a double row at the sides. There is also a dual seal at the top and bottom of the window for maximum weather resistance. Units exceed industry standards and are certified under NWWDA IS 2.9.
Balances-- Sash operation is controlled by two pair of spring loaded block and tackle balances, calibrated to the height and weight of the sash. This type of balance is noted for its smooth and quiet performance. Each balance has a locking shoe which engages as the sashes are removed. The balances are removable for service.
Jamb Thickness -- Standard frame thickness is 4-3/4”.
Screens-- Full aluminum frames are screened with charcoal gray fiberglass mesh. Frames are either white or beige to match the vinyl material. Screens are secured into a perimeter channel with plungers at optimal locations for a uniform fit and easy removal.
Hardware-- Sashes are equipped with recessed locks and tilt latches. Two locks are applied to all units 28” and wider. The standard hardware color is Goldtone or White.
